Context
Many small and medium-sized businesses struggle to maintain a professional web presence due to high upfront costs, technical complexity, and ongoing maintenance overhead.
XIT was founded to address this gap through a subscription-based website model, enabling SMBs to access modern, reliable websites without large initial investments. The focus was not just on building websites, but on delivering a repeatable, scalable service that businesses could rely on long-term.
Ownership & Scope
As founder, I was responsible for the entire lifecycle of the product and business, far beyond pure implementation:
- Client acquisition, sales conversations, and requirement discovery
- UX/UI design aligned with brand and business goals
- Full-stack development and deployment
- Hosting, monitoring, updates, and long-term maintenance
- Ongoing client support and iterative improvements
This level of ownership required constant context-switching between technical execution, product decisions, and customer communication.
Technical & Operational Foundation
While not a purely technical project, XIT was built on a robust and pragmatic engineering foundation:
- Modular, reusable website components to enable efficient delivery
- Reliable hosting and deployment setups optimized for low operational overhead
- Performance, SEO, and accessibility considered as first-class requirements
- Maintenance-friendly codebases designed for long-term updates rather than one-off launches
Technical decisions were consistently evaluated based on operational sustainability and customer impact, not just implementation speed.
Learning and Growth
Running XIT provided hands-on experience in end-to-end product ownership:
- Translating vague customer needs into concrete, shippable solutions
- Balancing technical quality with business constraints and timelines
- Designing systems and processes that scale beyond a single client
- Communicating technical trade-offs to non-technical customers
- Taking responsibility not only for delivery, but for outcomes
The experience fundamentally shaped how I approach software development — with a product and user-first mindset.
Takeaway
Building software is only part of the challenge — owning the problem end-to-end is where real impact happens.
XIT demonstrated that sustainable software solutions emerge when engineering, product thinking, and customer understanding are tightly integrated. This founder experience continues to influence how I design, build, and evaluate systems today.
